Don't panic- NOT cakes made out of burgers but burgers made out of cakes! This is something we are planning on running as a workshop at uni between Craft Society and Baking Society, as it is more crafty than bake-y really (the art is all in the construction!). I had a practice go and just had to share the results! They look great (though I say so myself)- we even went to MacDonald's and got their Big Mac boxes, however we forgot to then ask for the fries cartons so ended up making these ourselves. In case you were wondering, the burger bun is scone with linseeds on top (we avoided sesame seeds as they are a stronger flavour), the burger part is chocolate brownie, the lettuce is fondant icing dyed green using food colouring, the ketchup is just icing sugar and red food colouring and the chips/fries are shortbread cut into long thin strips. Assemble it all together and tada! Burger cake. I would definitely recommend having a go- they are great fun and taste nommy too!

COMMISSION
Some pictures of a recent commission- if you look closely you can see the Roald Dahl illustrations in the background! I did however forget to photograph it fully finished (here it needs framing and the buttons need sewing in place) but I am sure you can imagine what it looks like in a black frame! Any thoughts feel free to comment and if you are interested in commissioning a work just email!

NEW CARDS FOR LAURA LOVES
Another batch of cards heading down to Laura Loves Boutique in Mr Birds Emporium in Birmingham (look out for them appearing on-line- head over to the "Handmade Cards" page for the link). A few new designs and a few new backgrounds. I worked on a commission lately that I decided to incorporate some Roald Dahl into (as it was a favourite book) and I was thoroughly impressed with the result and hence have used some of the illustrations as backing in my cards (especially in the Baby Cards, which I thought was appropriate ) I had forgotten how beautiful the illustrations in those books were! Anyway, here are some pictures of the cards- if you want to buy them check out the page as said and if you would like a specific card making don't hesitate to email.
